Hello, I’m Dr Karim Sandid, a medical doctor, healthcare designer and entrepreneur.
With 13 years of clinical experience across the UK and France, I’ve explored how technology and design can transform healthcare. My journey as a medical doctor has been driven by a deep curiosity about patient needs, long-term conditions management, prevention, and personalized medicine—while also reimagining clinicians’ workflows and professional experiences.
As Founder and Chief Medical & Product Officer at Kuma Health, I led the development of an AI-powered platform for autoimmune conditions, combining clinical insight, design thinking, and user research to build engaging, patient-centered solutions. I worked closely with clinicians in the UK and US to ensure medical safety while shaping the product roadmap and securing early-stage funding.
I have worked at the intersection of clinical risk management and digital clinical safety, ensuring that technology-driven healthcare solutions meet the highest safety and regulatory standards. As a Clinical Safety Officer, I have conducted risk assessments for digital health platforms, authored clinical safety cases, and led multi-disciplinary safety workshops to align engineers, designers, and regulatory experts on risk mitigation strategies.
My work spans product development, clinical workflows, regulatory compliance, and strategic partnerships, always focused on bridging the gap between healthcare, technology, and human-centered design.
My academic background includes a Master’s in Healthcare & Design from Imperial College London & the Royal College of Art, where I applied human-centered design to healthcare innovation, and a Master’s in Educational Technology, exploring how digital tools enhance health education. These experiences continue to fuel my passion for building solutions that make healthcare more accessible, empathetic, and truly patient-centric.
